THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Hello Friends,
Grace and peace to you in this sacred season of Advent. Whether you are worshiping with us for the first time or returning as part of our long-loved Asbury family, we are truly grateful for your presence.
Advent invites us to slow down, breathe deep, and watch for the light breaking into the world once again. Here at Asbury, we hold that hope close. We believe in creating a community where every person is welcomed with open arms, where questions are honored, where faith is nurtured, and where the love of Christ is lived out in real and meaningful ways.
As we journey toward the manger together, my prayer is that you’ll sense the nearness of God in our worship, the warmth of Christ in our fellowship, and the stirring of the Holy Spirit in every act of kindness, service, and celebration throughout this season.
This is a time of expectation, preparation, and promise — and there is a place for you in it. We’re honored to walk beside you as we seek to shine Christ’s light of hope, peace, joy, and love into our community and our world.
With grace and gratitude,
Rev. Sharon Bowers
Pastor, Asbury United Methodist Church

LIFE IN THE KINGDOM
Led by Steve Parsons
Welcome to the 'Life in the Kingdom study group', a class premised on the prayer of Jesus that “Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” As believers in Jesus as the Son of God and Messiah who await His return, how are we to live in the present world? How can we enable and advance the coming of God’s kingdom on this earth by the lives that we live?
These are the questions we seek to address in each study undertaken. Currently, the Life in the Kingdom study group is focusing on the Gospel of Mark to understand why it is properly considered the “essential gospel” for believers today.
Our study group is open to any and all adults of any age who wish to know more about life today in the kingdom of God. It meets in the La Rue classroom on the second floor of the education building on Sunday's at 9:00am.
🕰️ When: Sunday Mornings from 9-10 am
📍 Where: LaRue Classroom (1st Floor, Education Building)
📖 Facilitator: Steve Parsons

Leave with deeper understanding.

Did you know that you can be the lifeline a local family desperately needs!
Right now, families in our own community are facing heartbreaking choices—whether to keep the lights on or put food on the table, whether to pay rent or face eviction. These are our neighbors, and they need us now more than ever.
At Asbury’s Benevolence Ministry, we offer hope in the form of emergency assistance to individuals and families who are on the brink of losing their housing due to overdue rent or utility bills. But this week, the need has outpaced our resources. Several families have reached out for help—and we no longer have the funds to say “yes.”
That’s where you come in.
Your gift to the Benevolence/Second Mile Assistance Fund will provide immediate relief for qualified applicants who have nowhere else to turn. Every single dollar you give goes directly to cover past-due housing or utility expenses—100%—no overhead, no red tape. Just real help, right when it’s needed most.
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these… you did for Me.” – Matthew 25:40
Together, we can answer that call.
Donate today and be the reason a family can stay in their home.

Throughout 2025, we're celebrating Asbury's 150th year in ministry. Join us, and let's encounter God together.
